Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of SpaceX and Tesla, as well as the owner of Twitter, recently tweeted his support for Jacob Chansley, also known as the QAnon Shaman, who was jailed for his role in the January 6 Capitol riot. Musk’s tweet came after new footage of Chansley’s behavior during the riot was released, which showed him urging protesters to leave and go home, contradicting the narrative that he was a violent extremist.
Musk’s tweet calling for Chansley’s release quickly went viral, with the “Chief Twit” sharing a video of the colorful figure appealing for calm. In a second tweet, Musk highlighted the two-tiered justice system in the country, with Chansley receiving four years in prison for a non-violent, police-escorted tour, while others who committed violent crimes received lighter sentences.
However, Musk was also accused of being a member of the pro-American MAGA movement, which has been targeted by the Biden administration’s agencies and smeared by the media.
